BSSCWoW Recognition by Fairfax County Board of Supervisors

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors led by Chairman Sharon Bulova will recognize the three faith communities that hosted the summer and fall 2009 pilot programs of the Burke/Springfield Senior Center Without Walls (BSSCWoW):  Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church; Durga Temple; and Burke United Methodist Church.

 

After the BoS recognition ceremony, the BSSCWoW participants will join in a Christmas season reception (and bring cookies) to honor the instructors:  Susie Thomas (line dancing) & Kris Brinker (tai chi).

They will also engage in an informal conversation on the Future of the Burke/Springfield Senior Center Without Walls (BSSCWoW).

The Burke/Springfield District Senior Center Without Walls Pilot Program continues with Tai-Chi exercises and Brown-Bag Lunch with wellness conversations starting October 2, 2009 (Fridays) from 12:15 pm - 2pm at the Burke United Methodist Church, 6200 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke, Virginia.  Braddock District Supervisor John Cook kindly agreed to Cora Foley's request and facilitated the  use of church facilities for this BSSCWoW program.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

The Burke/Springfield District Senior Center Without Walls Pilot Program with Line Dancing and Brown-Bag Lunch with wellness conversations on Wednesdays from July 1 through Aug. 19, 2009  12 noon - 2pm at the Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church, 10125 Lakehaven Court, Burke, Virginia.

 

First pilot program was successfully completed with over 65 registrants -- some 40 regulars and others who participated in a few of the line dancing.  90715video of BSSCWoW line dancing.
